Damascus, SANA – The People’s Assembly on Sunday held the first session of its 10th regular round of its 2nd legislative term, chaired by Speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh and attended by Prime Minister Imad Khamis and a number of Ministers.

Opening the session, Sabbagh hoped that the 10th round will be productive and full of achievements that meet the needs of citizens.

Premier Khamis gave a briefing on the government’s performance, particularly in terms of dealing with the US embargo on Syria and providing the country’s needs, saying that the matter of providing petroleum and energy is complicated due to the US sanctions that have been preventing petroleum shipments from friendly countries for seven months.

Khamis that the government has launched 266 services and development projects during the past two years, 109 of them having been completed, and has helped to rehabilitate over 75,000 industrial facilities that had been damaged by terrorism.

He noted that the electric power generating capacity has increased from 1,200 MW in 2016 to 4,200, thus reducing rationing hours.
