New York, SANA-UN special envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen said on Thursday that the solution to the crisis in Syria starts by respecting its sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence and ensuring a plan for a political process led by the Syrians themselves.
Pedersen, during a UN Security Council session on the situation in Syria, affirmed the need for the return of the refugees to their villages and towns, in addition to reconstructing the country through the Syrians.
On the committee for discussing the constitution, Pedersen said “there is an acceptance for forming a Syrian, balanced constitutional committee led by Syria and formed by the Syrians with all their spectrum.”
As for al-Rukban camp, Pedersen appreciated the cooperation of the Syrian government to deliver the humanitarian aid to the camp.
At a press conference following the session, Pedersen affirmed that the occupied Syrian Golan is a Syrian land according to UN relevant resolutions, saying that resolution No. 2254 stresses the territorial integrity of Syria.
