Head of Olives Office: 82 million fruitful olive trees in Syria, the total exceeding 102 million

Damascus, SANA-Director of the Olives Office at the Ministry of Agriculture Mohammad Habo said there are around 102 million olive trees in Syria planted on an area of 692,417 hectares, among them 82 million fruitful trees from 75 varieties.

He added that olive nurseries produced around 565, 847 plants in 2017.

In a statement to SANA, Habo indicated that the ministry is preparing an integrated plan for developing olive tree cultivation in terms of the area and production to be adopted in the coming stage in all fields such as prevention and the selection of ecofriendly varieties.
