Lavrov meets Ansarai and Unal, stresses Syria sovereignty and territorial integrity

Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, discussed the situation in Syria with Senior Assistant to Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Jaberi Ansari, and the Turkish regime Assistant Foreign Minister Sadat Unal.

Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement that the talks concentrated on the need for commitment to Syria sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The talks also affirmed that the Syrian people are the only ones to determine their future according to a political process.

Astana Guarantor states discuss developments in Syria

Earlier, representatives of guarantor states of Astana process (Russia, Iran and Turkey) discussed developments in Syria and resolving the crisis in the country.

“The guarantor states of Astana process held consultations on Tuesday in Moscow with the participation of Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev , Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Verchinen , Senior Assistant to Iranian Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Hussein Jaberi Ansari, and Turkish Assistant Foreign Minister Sadat Unal,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in statement on Wednesday.

The representatives of the guarantor states agreed to speed up the pace of work to resolve the crisis in Syria, taking into account the interests of all Syrians, according to the United Nations Security Council Resolution NO. 2254.

Resolution No. 2254 states that the Syrians are the only ones who determine the future of their country.
