Water Resources Minister discusses situation of agriculture with FAO representative

Damascus, SANA-Minister of Water Resources Kamal al-Sheikha affirmed the need for cooperation between Syria and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to make use of the organization’s financial and technical potentials in order to raise competence of the farmers in the country.

The Minister, meeting FAO deputy resident representative in Syria Adam Yaw, pointed out to the importance of cooperation with the organization to enhance the agrarian task in all Syrian cities, particularly after the damages which affected water and agriculture in Syria due to the sabotage acts at the hands of armed terrorist organizations.

In a relevant context, the Minister discussed with the resident representative of Agha Khan Network in Syria Mohammad Seifo the situation of drinking water in al-Salamiya region in Hama countryside.

Al-Sheikha said the Ministry is currently digging new wells in al-Salamiya to cover the increasing needs of the citizens in the region and the eastern surrounding areas.
