Ramzy: Astana talks on Syria enhance Geneva process

Astana, SANA-UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria, Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy has said that the Astana meetings on Syria enhance the process of Geneva.

Ramzy, during his speech on Tuesday at the International Conference entitled “Astana, City of Peace”, Ramzy stressed that the efforts exerted by Kazakhstan are very important for finding a solution to the crisis in Syria as they support the UN efforts and enhance the process of Geneva and its advance.

He pointed out that the Astana talks create the circumstances for solving the crisis in Syria. First and foremost, the issue is connected to de-escalation of tension as over the last year and a half, Astana provided a significant contribution to this process, Ramzy went on to say.

He expressed confidence that Astana will continue to play a pivotal role in a number of issues that contribute to solving the crisis in Syria.

Ramzy said that “we need to move forward.. If we are unable to eliminate all difficulties facing the process, we will not be able to move forward.”
