Michal Lukes : Syrian ruins precious heritage for humanity as a whole

Prague, SANA-Director General of Czech National Museum Michal Lukes stressed that the Syrian monuments represent a precious heritage for the humanity as a whole, saying that these ruins were deliberately sabotaged due to extremist motives.

Czech Blesk newspaper quoted Lukes as saying on Tuesday that the Czech National Museum helps the Syrian archaeologists rehabilitate some of the archaeological pieces, that have been damaged, within the agreement signed last year with the Syrian Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums (DGAM).

Lukes pointed out that about 20 archaeological pieces will be brought from Syria to be rehabilitated in Czech Republic.

He said that rehabilitating the Syrian archaeological pieces will be done in the presence of the Syrian experts who will be briefed on the modern technologies in this regard.

The Czech National Museum has been exhibiting for about a month a number of the Syrian archaeological pieces that have been vandalized by the terrorist groups. The exhibition will last till June 10.
