Moscow, SANA – Syria’s Ambassador in Russia Riad Haddad said on Tuesday that Syria has great industrial and commercial capabilities that enable the country to overcome the unjust western blockade that targets the Syrian people.
The remarks came during his visit to the Syrian booth at the International Exhibition for Food Products in Moscow, where he held a meeting with heads of Syrian companies participating in the exhibition.
Haddad stressed the importance of holding meetings between representatives of the Russian commercial sector and Syrian businessmen, adding that Syria can compensate significantly for any shortages in materials that could result from the western sanctions on Russia.
He underlined that the Syrian government is working on overcoming the repercussions of the western sanctions.
For their part, the Syrian businessmen attending the meeting called for revitalizing the Syrian-Russian Joint Governmental Committee, adding that the sales of Syrian products during the expo exceeded expectations, asserting that Syrian industry will thrive again after the reconstruction of factories is finished.
The exhibition kicked off on Monday with the participation of more than 1,600 food and agricultural companies from 73 countries.
