Pyongyang, SANA- People of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) commemorated on Friday the 76^th birth anniversary of late leader Kim Jong Il, recalling his outstanding life dedicated to the Korean people.

The DPRK’s embassy in Damascus said in a statement distributed on this occasion that the leader Jong Il, throughout his life, adopted a firm principle that is based on of the people’s view and interests.

The people are the most capable and intelligent being , the most powerful weapon is the unity of the people, pleasure is the happiness of the people and the greatest inconvenience and resentment is the misery of the people and the assault on his dignity and interests. The most important belief is “we are in the service of the people”, the statement reads.

The statement mentioned that the leader has taken the interests of his people as a standard for all the country’s plans and policies as those interests were safeguarded in all circumstances, including the popular measures such as the free of charge treatment and education systems that were applied without change, even in the harshest periods of the last century, when many socialist countries were collapsed, including the former Soviet Union.

The late leader Jong Il took power in his country after the death of his father, the founding leader Kim Il-Sung, on July 8, 1994 and died on December 17, 2011.
