Iran: US announcement of forming armed militia in north-eastern Syria blatant intervention

Tehran, SANA- Iran has stressed that the US recent approach to set up an armed militia in north-eastern Syria is considered as a blatant intervention in Syria’s internal affairs and aggravates the crisis in it.

“The formation of new armed militia north of Syria is considered a clear example of blatant intervention in internal affairs of other countries and creates more instability in them” IRNA News Agency quoted  Spokesman of Iranian Foreign Ministry, Bahram Qasemi, as saying in a statement Tuesday.

“The new approach adopted by the US is revealed at a time when the Syrian Arab Army and its allies have achieved great victories in the fight against Daesh (ISIS) and al-Nusra Front terrorists,” he added.

The Iranian diplomat said that Iran together with Russia and the Turkish regime are trying to solve  the crisis in Syria, as they managed to realize large achievements in this regard through adhering to the outcomes of Astana meetings and creating de-escalation zones in the country.

He called on the US to change its interventionist and destructive approach in the region and to withdraw its forces from Syria as soon as possible and let Syrian people decide their future.

Earlier, Foreign and Expatriates Ministry vehemently condemned the US announcement on formation of armed militia in north-eastern Syria, considering this announcement as a blatant breach of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a flagrant violation of the International law.

The Ministry said that the US step came within the framework of its destructive policies which aim at fragmenting the region, fueling tensions and conflicts and hindering solutions to its crises
