Guide on dealing with recruited children to be lunched by end of 2017

Damascus, SANA – Head of the Syrian Commission for Family and Population Affairs, Dr. Akram al-Qash, announced that a guide on how to deal with recruited children will be launched by the end of 2017.

Al-Qash’s remarks came during a workshop held on November 7-9 by the Commission in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on how to deal with child victims of recruitment by the armed organizations and the mechanism of integration them into the society, in addition to the mechanism of interviewing such children and the efforts of the Commission in this field.

The guide, according to al-Qash, includes several steps and alternatives that take into account the different cases of each child to accommodate all cases, including family disintegration, absence of the breadwinner, children of unknown parents and out-of-school children, and to follow up on their integration of each case according to the health and psychological condition of the child.

Al-Qash stressed the need to develop a national program to deal with child victims of recruitment after the issuance of the guide on how to deal with them, in addition to analyzing the reality of the NGOs working in this field in order to stimulate greater community action.
