Education Ministry launches the psychological and social support guide

Damascus, SANA – Education Ministry launched on Sunday the psychological and social support guide in order to train teaching staff on ways to apply the guide’s rules and skills that counselors, psychologists and social workers need to acquire.

The launching of the guide came during a workshop organized by the Ministry in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) at al-Cham Hotel in Damascus.

For his part, Minister of Education Hazwan al-Waz affirmed that the unified guide for psychosocial support in emergency situations will be an accredited reference that will be applied at schools in all of the provinces.

The guide was prepared in cooperation between specialists from the Ministry and the UNICEF, said al-Waz.

For her part, the UNICEF Resident Representative in Syria Hanaa Singer expressed her appreciation of the efforts exerted by the Syrian Education Ministry to ensure the continuation of the education process despite the difficult circumstances.

She noted that the close cooperation between the Ministry and the UNICEF has resulted in increasing the rate of school enrollment, providing new learning programs, rehabilitating schools and supplying some schools with prefabricated rooms, in addition to opening 23 schools in East Aleppo recently, which allows the return of 6000 students back to school, as well as launching the training guide for psychological and social care for teachers.
