Armed groups prevent distribution of aid to families in Damascus Countryside

Damascus Countryside, SANA – Armed groups positioned in the Eastern Ghouta prevented the distribution of humanitarian aid to the residents of a number of towns in the southern part of Damascus Countryside.

According to media and local sources, armed groups blocked on October 26th a relief aid convoy provided by the UN to the towns of Yalda, Babila, and Beit Sahm in Damascus Countryside and prevented them by force of arms in the town of Yalda from reaching the people until they were given 5,000 food packages as a ransom.

The 35-truck convoy was loaded with 8,000 food packages, 7,000 flour bags, and 4,000 baskets of cleaning materials and was transported by cars of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) to the towns of Yalda, Babila and Beit Sahm.
