Prime Minister: New aspects for further strategic Syrian – Iranian relations

Damascus, SANA – Means of enhancing Syrian- Iranian political and economic relations and the importance of joint coordination in the regional and international arenas were the focus of talks held between Prime Minister Imad Khamis and the Special Assistant to Speaker of Iran’s Shura Council Hussein Amir Abdullahian.

Premier Khamis expressed the Syrian government’s appreciation of Iran’s stances in support of the Syrian people and their steadfastness to confront the terrorist war waged on the country, hailing the victories achieved in the war against terrorism thanks to the close cooperation between Syria, the friendly countries and the Resistance.

He stressed that Syria is open to all local and foreign initiatives with the aim of reaching a political solution to the crisis without making compromises on national principles.

Khamis underlined the importance of enhancing trade exchange between Syria and Iran, launching new investment projects, reactivating the Joint Syrian- Iranian Higher Commission and increasing the role of private sector in establishing a strong economic infrastructure that serves the interests of the people in the two countries.

Abdullahian, for his part, extended congratulations over the victory recently achieved by the Syrian army and the Resistance in Jroud Arsal area, reiterating his country’s firm stance to provide all forms of support to Syria until eradication of terrorism.

He stressed Iran’s keenness on further strengthening bilateral cooperation and overcoming all obstacles which hinder progress towards this goal.

In this regard, Deputy Speaker of the People’s Assembly Najdat Anzour discussed in another meeting with Abdullahian and the accompanying delegation means of enhancing and developing parliamentary ties between the two countries.
