Results of basic education and Sharia preparatory school final exams announced

Damascus, SANA – The Ministry of Education announced on Wednesday the results of the Basic Education (9th grade) and Sharia preparatory school certificates for the 2017 school year.

Education Minister Hazwan al-Waz said in a press conference that 249,669 students took the basic education exams, of whom 164,369 passed at a percentage of 65.83%.

He added that 2,795 students took the exams of the Sharia (Islamic education) preparatory certificate, and 2,370 of them passed at a percentage of 84.79%.

The Minister also noted that 28 students got full marks, while only one student was ranked first in the Sharia preparatory school certificate.

He affirmed that there is no need for holding another exceptional session of exams, adding that the students of Aqareb al-Safiyeh village in Salamiyeh who were not able to take their exams due to the attacks of the armed terrorist organizations will re-take their exams later.
