Two mobile electric substations inaugurated in Damascus and its countryside

Damascus, SANA – As part of the Electricity Ministry’s plan for the reconstruction stage, Electricity Minister Mohammad Zuhair Kharboutli inaugurated two electric power substations, one in Rekneddin neighborhood in Damascus and the other in Sahnaya in Damascus Countryside.

Kharboutli told journalists that one mobile substation was placed in the Ibn al-Nafis substation, at a cost of SYP 2.5 billion, in order to alleviate pressure on the power grid in the area, and that the requirements for this project were procured via the contracts signed with friendly countries, adding that the mobile substation is temporary until a permanent one is built.

As for the second substation located in the Ashrafiyet Sahnaya area, the Minister said it cost SYP 3 billion and will help reduce outages outside rationing hours and relieve pressure on the Ashrafiyet Sahnaya and Hosh Blas substations.

He explained that there are 20 power converters in Tartous harbor awaiting distribution on stations.
