Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif the situation in Syria after the recent US aggression on the Syrian territory.
“Both sides stressed that such aggressive actions against a sovereign independent state are a gross violation of international law, primarily the UN Charter, which pose threats to regional security, harm the fight against international terrorism,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The statement added that the two ministers called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident in Syria.

In a relevant context, Iran’s First Vice President Ishak Jahangiri said that the US attack on Syria is a “serious act”, calling for the formation of a fact-finding committee to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Syria.
In a statement on Monday, he reviewed the latest developments in Syria and the recent US attack against it, adding that Iran has repeatedly expressed rejection of using chemical weapons.
