Moscow, SANA- Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiyeh Abbas stressed on Monday the the importance of enhancing cooperation between Syrian and Russian women to overcome the dark thinking against women, expressing Syria’s appreciation to the Russian people for standing by the Syrian people in the fight against terrorism.
Abbas, who is visiting Moscow along with a delegation of the People Assembly, said in a joint press statement with chairman of the Women’s Union of Russia, Ekaterina Lakhova, “We arrived in Moscow upon a kind invitation of Valentina Matviyenko, Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia, to develop the relations in various field, particularly in the parliamentary, popular and political fields.”
Abbas thanked the Russian people who stand by Syria in economic, political and military fields.
For her part, Lakhova greeted the Syrian delegation, affirming that the Women’s Union of Russia is working to enhance the relations with the General Union of Syrian Women.
Abbas, along with accompanying delegation, held talks with the delegation of the Women’s Union of Russia, attended by Syria’s Ambassador in Russia, Dr. Riad Haddad, affirming that Syrian and Russian relations are distinguished and deeply-rooted.
“Syrian women are now in advanced positions in all fields, where they are in all institutions at various levels and occupy senior government positions as vice president and Speaker of the People’s Assembly.” Abbas said.
