Borodavkin: Those who violate the cessation of hostilities agreement will face unenviable destiny

Geneva, SANA – Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva condemned the terrorist organizations’ breaches of the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria, adding that those who commit the violations will face unenviable destiny.

The Russian Tass News Agency quoted Borodavkin as saying that the situation has become more difficult after the recent attempt by Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization and other opposition groups to attack Damascus and firing shells on the residential neighborhoods causing human losses, stressing the need to put an end to such acts.

He underlined the attitude of the Syrian Arab Republic towards the intra-Syrian talks and described it as “constructive”.

He added that Damascus, during the last meeting with Russian diplomats, reaffirmed its readiness to discuss all issues enlisted on the agenda submitted by the UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura.

Borodavkin said that the meetings between the Russian diplomats and representatives of al-Riyadh opposition group are useful for the opposition members in the first place in order to realize the military and political facts in regard to the Syrian settlement, pointing out that if the opposition continued to ask for advice from those who attempt to foil Geneva talks, there will be no hope to achieve any further progress in this regard.

He reiterated Moscow’s determination to engage Syrian Kurds in the talks.

The fifth round of intra-Syrian talks in Geneva started on Friday with the participation of the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic and other delegations.
