Abbas, Mikdad meet delegation representing Libyan tribes and cities

Damascus, SANA – Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiyeh Abbas affirmed that Syria and Libya are facing the same threat, because the states that conspired against the two countries continue to support terrorists in them.

Meeting a delegation representing Libyan tribes and cities on Monday, Abbas said that foreign interference in Libya only seeks to control oil and achieve personal interests, and all other slogans merely seek to justify this interference.

She said that Syria, despite the terrorism is has been facing for six years, in anxiously watching what is happening to the Libyan people under the pretext of international protection of civilians, stressing the need for Libya to emerge from its ordeal and recover its normal life and its pan-Arab role.

For his part, the head of the delegation, Sheikh Ashraf Abdelfattah al-Tuwati Abu al-Qassem, said that Libyan tribes and cities salute the legendary steadfastness of the Syrian people, leadership, and army in the face of the conspiracy targeting them.

He said that the delegation’s visit seeks to strengthen relations between the two countries and to assert that the tribes in Libya support the Syrian people, underlining the importance of learning from Syria’s experience in carrying out national reconciliations.

Mikdad affirms Syria’s support for Libyans against terrorism

Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad also received the Libyan delegation, affirming to them that Syria condemns the aggression carried out by Western states along with some Arab Gulf states against Libya, during which they committed war crimes and crimes against humanity that must be punished.

He affirmed Syria’s support for the Libyan people against terrorist groups that are backed by Western states, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar who seek to divide Libya and plunder its resources.

For his part, Abu al-Qassem said that the delegation came to Syria to congratulate its people and leadership over the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Army against terrorism, and to express the Libyans’ support for their Syrian brethren.

He said that Libya and Syria are facing the same aggression, and that the Libyans will continue their struggle until they achieve victory against terrorism.

The two sides also stressed the importance of uniting Arab people and forces to confront colonialist plots that are targeting the region and supporting terrorism.
