Syria , Sweden explore economic cooperation and investment opportunities

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar, and Jessica Svärdström, Chargé d’Affaires of the Swedish Embassy in Damascus, explored ways of enhancing economic relations and expanding areas of bilateral

The both sides emphasized the need to revitalize trade and investment exchange between the two countries. They also discussed the potential involvement of Swedish companies in development projects within Syria, particularly in key sectors related to reconstruction and the improvement of economic infrastructure.

The two officials underscored the importance of fostering a stimulating economic environment that would facilitate the return of Syrians living abroad, through job creation and support for community stability via sustainable development.

Minister al-Shaar reaffirmed Syria’s openness to all international initiatives that support economic development, stressing the importance of building balanced partnerships with countries demonstrating a genuine interest in cooperation.

For her part, Svärdström, expressed Sweden’s interest in pursuing economic cooperation opportunities with Syria. She affirmed her country’s positive view of any practical steps that could enhance stability and development in Syria, whether through public or private sector engagement.
