Labor Union: Salary increase reflects government's commitment to improving living conditions

Damascus, SANA- Head of the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU), Fawaz al-Ahmad, affirmed Tuesday that the presidential decrees of increasing salaries of state employees reflect the government’s commitment to improving the living of workers and retirees, amid the difficult economic conditions.

In a statement to SANA, Al-Ahmad hailed the decision as an important step to motivate the workers to continue and develop their work.

He also called on the private sector to follow this national approach by improving wages and working conditions of their workers.

President, Ahmad al-Sharaa, issued last Saturday two Decrees of 200% increase of the salaries and wages of employees and retirees.
