Amman, March 7 (SANA) – The Jordanian army said on Saturday that its forces and air defense systems dealt with 119 missiles and drones targeting the country during the first week of the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
According to Al-Mamlaka TV, Jordanian Armed Forces spokesperson Mustafa al-Hiyari said the Royal Jordanian Air Force successfully intercepted and destroyed 108 of the projectiles, while 11 missiles and drones were not intercepted.
He added that debris from interceptions fell in several areas across the kingdom, causing material damage.
Al-Hiyari said Jordan has activated military and defense cooperation agreements with several allied armies to enhance aerial protection over the country, alongside coordination with the Jordanian Civil Aviation Authority to regulate air traffic and ensure the safety of national airspace.
He stressed that the Jordanian military remains ready to deal with exceptional circumstances, while continuing to operate air defense systems and intensify aerial monitoring through aircraft and radar systems.
Al-Hiyari also said Jordan has sought since the beginning of the escalation to prevent wider war through diplomatic means, while stressing that attacks by missiles and drones constitute a violation of the country’s sovereignty.
Iran has continued launching missile and drone attacks against several countries in the region, causing casualties and material damage.
