Foreign Ministry: EU decision to suspend sanctions on key sectors in Syria warmly welco

Damascus, SANA- “We warmly welcome the European Union’s decision to suspend sanctions on key sectors in Syria, a step that paves the way to economic recovery, improved access to essential services and greater long-term stability in the region,” the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry stressed.

In a press release, the ministry said “The Syrian people deserve a genuine opportunity to rebuild their lives and shape their own future. This goal can only be fully realised through the complete removal of all remaining sanctions, which, while originally implemented as a protective measure for the Syrian people from the brutality of the Assad regime, have since become counterproductive to the welfare of our people.”

It added “We reaffirm our readiness to engage constructively with all partners to ensure the lifting of all sanctions, thereby enabling the Syrian people to thrive and reclaim their rightful place in a peaceful and prosperous region.”
