Kuwait City, March 7 (Reuters) Kuwait said on Saturday it has reduced crude oil production and refining operations as a precaution in response to ongoing Iranian attacks in the region.
The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) said in a statement that the move is part of its risk management strategy to ensure business continuity amid repeated threats to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
KPC emphasized that the cuts are temporary and production could be restored once conditions allow.
The precautionary adjustment comes amid heightened regional tensions following strikes on Iranian targets by U.S. and Israeli forces, which have sparked retaliatory missile and drone attacks across the Gulf. Gulf states, including Kuwait, have faced threats to civilian facilities, energy infrastructure, and residential areas.
Separately, Qatari Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi warned on Friday that Gulf energy exports could be disrupted within weeks if military tensions escalate further.
