Damascus, May 20 (SANA) The Minister of Justice, Mazhar al-Wais, held an extensive meeting today, Wednesday, with the Deputy Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria, Claudio Cordone, at the ministry’s headquarters in Damascus.
The high-level discussions focused on expanding joint institutional mechanisms and reinforcing cooperation between the Syrian state and the United Nations in the legal, judicial, and human rights fields.
The talks come within the framework of ongoing communication between the Syrian government and the United Nations to exchange views and enhance efforts supporting national stability and institutional development.
The meeting follows earlier discussions held in February between the Justice Ministry and Cordone regarding cooperation in developing the infrastructure of Syria’s judicial sector and supporting its independence.
