Damascus, April 24 (SANA) President Ahmad al-Sharaa is participating on Friday in a European Council summit with regional partners, held at the Filoxenia Conference Center in Nicosia.
The summit comes within the framework of ongoing consultations between countries in the region and the European Union on current geopolitical developments, as well as regional and international issues.
The summit is set to discuss the regional implications of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, along with European Union initiatives toward countries of the southern neighborhood and the Mediterranean basin.
Last week, Cyprus’ Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna announced that leaders from Syria, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon had been invited to attend the summit, highlighting the Middle East as a “direct neighborhood” of the European Union, with its stability closely linked to European security.
