Swieda, May 19 (SANA) Sweida Governor Mustafa al-Bakkour received Tuesday a United Nations delegation headed by Deputy Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria Claudio Cordone, with discussions focusing on organizing examinations and facilitating the return of displaced residents to their original towns in southern Syria.
During the meeting, al-Bakkour stressed the importance of safeguarding students’ future and ensuring a stable educational environment, alongside supporting the return of residents to their villages and advancing reconstruction efforts.
The governor said local authorities were working to create suitable conditions for education and community stability in Sweida province.
For its part, the UN delegation expressed full readiness to support the Syrian government, particularly in the rehabilitation and restoration of infrastructure, in a way that would help serve residents and facilitate their return.
The talks also addressed coordination on humanitarian and service-related issues linked to local recovery efforts in the province.
