International support grows for Syria reforms at G7 finance meetings
Syria’s Finance Minister Mohammed Yisr Barnieh participates in finance meetings in Paris attended by G7 officials.

Paris, May 19 (SANA) Finance Minister Mohammed Yisr Barnieh reaffirmed Syria’s commitment to deeper integration into the global financial and economic system and to creating an investment-friendly environment that supports sustainable development during meetings involving G7 finance ministers and central bank governors in Paris.

According to the Syrian Ministry of Finance, Barnieh outlined the country’s ongoing financial reforms and current economic challenges during a closed-door session attended by World Bank President Ajay Banga and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

International support grows for Syria reforms at G7 finance meetings

Participants expressed support for Syria’s economic and financial reform efforts, underscoring the importance of stability and the success of the country’s reconstruction and development process.

Banga and Georgieva also praised the level of cooperation with Syrian authorities and the financial reforms currently under way.

Syria’s participation in the meetings came at the invitation of France, which is chairing the gathering, and reflects growing international interest in Syria’s stability and gradual reintegration into the global economy, according to the ministry.
