Idlib, Feb. 23 (SANA) Syrian Information Minister Hamza al-Mustafa visited Idlib on Sunday to discuss plans to strengthen local media and improve communication between government institutions and residents, the Ministry said in a statement.
During a meeting with Idlib Governor Mohammed Abdul Rahman at the governorate headquarters, al-Mustafa reviewed the needs of the province’s media sector and ways to highlight public services and development projects. Both officials stressed the importance of media in promoting transparency and conveying citizens’ concerns, the statement said.
The minister also attended a dialogue session organized by the provincial media directorate, where participants discussed achievements over the past year and outlined priorities for the coming months. Journalists raised challenges facing media work in the province and called for stronger coordination with the Ministry of Information.
Al-Mustafa said the ministry’s new strategy aims to reinforce local reporting and reorganize provincial media directorates. He described the past year as a “foundational” period for restructuring media operations at the local level.
Idlib media director Ahmed Badawi said discussions focused on professional challenges confronting journalists. Deputy Information Minister Obada Koujan highlighted efforts to modernize media institutions and strengthen professional standards.
The visit is part of what a broader government plan to develop local media and strengthen its role as a link between citizens and state institutions.
