Amman, Feb. 5 (SANA) Syrian and Jordanian officials held talks on Wednesday aimed at strengthening cooperation on transparency and anti-corruption, officials said.
Amer al-Ali, head of Syria’s Central Authority for Inspection and Control, met in Amman with Muhannad Hijazi, chairman of Jordan’s Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission, during a visit by a Syrian delegation to Jordan. The visit was part of efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation in transparency, integrity and anti-corruption, al-Ali told SANA.
Jordan’s official news agency Petra quoted Hijazi as saying the meeting sought to exchange expertise and build stronger frameworks for cooperation between the two sides. He said Jordan was open to engagement with Syria and expressed hope that the visit would lead to expanded cooperation, including training, capacity building and the exchange of technical experience.
During the meeting, Samia Abu Sharif, head of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Unit at the Central Bank of Jordan, outlined the unit’s role in gathering and analyzing financial and non-financial information and coordinating national policy on combating money laundering and terrorism financing.
The Syrian delegation included senior officials from the Central Authority for Inspection and Control, while the Jordanian side was represented by members of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission’s board and departmental directors, who presented overviews of their work and operational mechanisms.
