Damascus, Mar. 7 (SANA) The General Company for Cement and Building Materials Industry and Marketing (OMRAN) received shipments of clinker, the raw material for cement production before grinding, from the Egyptian company Cisco on Saturday. The delivery follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the two companies in Cairo on January 29.
OMRAN Director Mahmoud Fadila told SANA that securing clinker will support continued cement production in Syrian factories. He added that deliveries are being made in phases based on careful assessments of local market demand and the production capacity of the factories.
Fadila said the move is aimed at maintaining stable cement prices in the domestic market and reducing production costs by ensuring the availability of essential raw materials.
The memorandum of understanding was signed to strengthen supply chains and develop the cement sector, benefiting both parties.
