Daraa launches $7.8 million in service projects under “Abshari Horan” campaign

Daraa, Jan.12 (SANA) Daraa Governorate has carried out service projects worth more than $7.8 million, financed by donations collected through the “Abshari Horan” campaign, which was launched to improve public services and rebuild infrastructure damaged in the past years.

Deputy Head of the Executive Office of Daraa Governorate, Muhannad al-Jahmani, said that the projects cover the education, health, and water sectors and are being implemented according to priority needs.

In education, the governorate has renovated 205 schools, built four new ones, and produced 5,300 school desks, with a total value of $3.956 million.

The health sector has seen projects worth $2.305 million, including the rehabilitation of six hospital wards and comprehensive clinics, restoration of eight health centers, the purchase of five ambulances, and new medical equipment to strengthen services.

Water projects, valued at $1.566 million, involved drilling and deepening 66 drinking water wells and acquiring 94 motors and pumps to improve supply.

Al-Jahmani noted that international organizations are also contributing projects valued at $2.2 million, of which 20 percent have been completed, 27 percent are underway, and 53 percent are yet to begin.

The “Abshari Horan” campaign, launched on August 25, has so far raised $44.3 million in donations to support development projects across the governorate, particularly in health, education, and water services.
