Geneva, May. 21 (SANA) The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Thursday welcomed Syria’s accession to the “Global Initiative to Galvanize Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law”.

In a post on its X account, the ICRC stated: “We welcome Syria’s accession to the Global Initiative to Galvanize Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law.”

Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced earlier today that the Syrian Arab Republic has joined “the Global Initiative to Galvanize Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law”, in a step that reflects the commitment of a new Syria to strengthen its responsible and active engagement in the international system and to consolidate respect for the principles of international law and international humanitarian law.

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Olabi, handed over today Syrian Arab Republic’s accession documents to “the Global Initiative to Galvanize Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law” to the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.
