Geneva – SANA-Dr. – Minister of Health Dr. Musab al-Ali met with a delegation from Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, led by Dr. Lyne Soucy, Regional Manager Middle East and North Africa. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva.
The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between both parties, particularly addressing challenges related to the treatment of patients with AIDS and tuberculosis, and exploring optimal ways to ensure the continuity and expansion of related healthcare programs.
Minister al-Ali provided an overview of current healthcare sector in Syria, highlighting key challenges, available opportunities, and mechanisms for responding to the country’s prevailing health conditions.
He stressed the importance of activating swift and flexible funding mechanisms to support the national healthcare system.
Both sides emphasized the need to enhance preventive programs and early detection efforts, as well as to provide the necessary medical and laboratory equipment to ensure an effective and sustainable response to healthcare needs.
They also agreed to maintain consultation and coordination to maximize the effectiveness of Global Fund-supported programs in Syria and to strengthen the healthcare sector’s ability to address present and future challenges.
