Foreign and Defense Ministers Meet UNDOF delegation

Damascus, SASA-Foreign and Expatriates Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shibani and Minister of Defense, Major General Murhaf Abu Qasra met a UN delegation, headed by Ambassador Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, and Major General Patrick Gouesla, Acting Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).

During the meeting, it was emphasized that Syria is ready to cooperate fully with the United Nations and cover its positions on the borders, in accordance with the 1974 mandate, on the condition of an immediate Israeli withdrawal.

For its part, the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force reaffirmed its full commitment to resolving this issue and restoring stability to the border and the region.

It also expressed its readiness to provide support in demining operations and ensuring the quality of services, as well as coordinating between authorities and organizations working to remove explosives and remnants of war for a safer Syria.
