London, March 23 (SANA) – The UK Foreign Office on Monday summoned Iran’s ambassador to London, Seyed Ali Mousavi, to protest what it described as destabilizing activities and hostile actions targeting the country’s security.
According to AFP, a Foreign Office spokesperson said the move follows formal charges against two individuals under national security legislation on suspicion of assisting a foreign intelligence service. One of the suspects is an Iranian national, while the other holds dual British-Iranian citizenship.
The spokesperson stressed that the UK government will take all necessary measures to safeguard its internal security and counter any attempts at interference, including exposing what it described as Iran’s destabilizing activities domestically and abroad.
In a related development, Scottish police said they had detained an Iranian man and a Romanian woman attempting to enter a Royal Navy base housing nuclear submarines.
Recent British intelligence and parliamentary reports have also warned of increasing risks of Iranian espionage activities in the country, citing growing efforts to gather sensitive information and calling for stronger countermeasures.
