Trump announces ‘Major Combat Operations’ in Iran After Israel Attack
U.S. President Donald Trump

Washington, Feb.28 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday the launch of a large-scale military strike against Iran. He said the operation aims to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.

Speaking after a joint U.S.-Israeli airstrike, Trump said: “Tehran is developing long-range missiles that could threaten America and other countries.

This military operation targets their nuclear and missile programs. Iran’s threatening activities put the United States, our forces and bases abroad, and our allies worldwide at risk.”

He added: “We will destroy Iran’s missiles, eliminate its missile program, and wipe out the Iranian navy. If Iran chooses aggression and refuses to give up its nuclear ambitions, we will no longer tolerate it. They have attempted to continue developing long-range missiles that may soon reach U.S. territory.”

The strikes targeted multiple sites in Tehran and other cities. Israeli and U.S. officials said the operation was a preemptive measure to dismantle Iran’s security apparatus.

The attack follows a third round of U.S.-Iran negotiations in Geneva on the nuclear issue. Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the talks, emphasizing he does not want Iran enriching uranium, while Oman said the talks achieved a breakthrough after Iran agreed not to retain any enriched uranium stockpile.
