Washington, Jun.1 (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump said Monday that Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to dial back fighting.

Trump stated in a post published on his Truth Social platform that he reached this conclusion after he had held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and communicated with the Lebanon-militant group through mediators.

“No forces would move toward Beirut, any forces that were on their way have already turned back” Trump said.

Trump stated that Israel would not attack Hezbollah and that Hezbollah would not attack Israel.

In April, Trump announced a U.S.-mediated ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel, which was later extended for an additional three weeks.

Despite the ceasefire announced on April 17, Israeli strikes and shelling have continued on a near-daily basis in various areas of Lebanon, resulting in casualties and injuries.
