Abu Dhabi, March 5 (SANA) UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a series of phone calls on Wednesday with several foreign ministers and international officials to discuss regional tensions following Iranian attacks on the United Arab Emirates and other Arab countries, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The calls included Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, Mexican Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente, Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi, South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola, and Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias.
The discussions focused on the impact of the escalation on regional security and stability, as well as its potential effects on international trade, energy supplies and the global economy.
The officials condemned the attacks targeting the UAE and other countries in the region, describing them as violations of international law and the United Nations Charter, and reaffirmed the right of affected states to take necessary measures to protect their sovereignty and security.
Bin Zayed thanked the officials for their support and solidarity with the UAE, adding that all residents and visitors in the country were safe.
The officials also stressed the need for coordinated international efforts to contain tensions, prevent further escalation and prioritize political and diplomatic solutions to maintain regional stability.
Iran has launched missile and drone attacks against several Arab countries, including the UAE, causing casualties and damage. The attacks followed U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran that began last Saturday.
