Washington, April 19 (SANA) U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said Sunday that the landing ship USS Rushmore is conducting blockade operations against Iran in the Arabian Sea.
CENTCOM said in a statement posted on X that sailors and Marines aboard the Rushmore are carrying out missions in the area.
In a separate post, the command said the guided-missile destroyer USS Pinckney is conducting intensive patrols in support of the operations, adding that the blockade has halted commercial maritime traffic to and from Iran.
The developments follow Iran’s renewed closure of the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. Tehran also announced that control over the strait had returned to its previous status under strict supervision by Iranian armed forces, with most vessels transiting its territorial waters required to pay fees.
