Spanish Embassy reaffirms commitment to Syria, plans reopening of Cervantes Center

Damascus, SANA – The Chargé d’Affaires of the Spanish Embassy in Syria, Francisco Javier Puga, affirmed Spain’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people and strengthening bilateral ties, highlighting the historic nature of Syrian-Spanish relations.

He noted plans to reopen the Cervantes Cultural Center in Damascus, calling it a pivotal step in restoring cultural and diplomatic engagement.

Despite years of crisis, the embassy has remained open, with Spain pledging to expand cooperation alongside Syrian authorities and in coordination with the EU to support reconstruction and development.
