Gulf capitals, March 7 (SANA) – The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Saturday strongly condemned an Iranian attack targeting buildings in Bahrain that house personnel from the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces participating in the Unified Maritime Operations Center of the GCC.
GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi said in a statement that targeting facilities hosting naval personnel from GCC states constitutes a hostile act that violates international laws and norms and reflects Iran’s escalating approach.
He stressed that GCC member states stand united against any threat to their security or the safety of their forces and vital facilities, reaffirming full solidarity with Bahrain and Qatar and support for any measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty. He reiterated that the security of GCC countries is indivisible, warning that any attack against one member state or joint forces is considered an attack against all.
In a separate statement, Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attack and described it as a blatant violation of Bahrain’s sovereignty and a threat to regional security and stability.
The ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with Bahrain and Qatar and its support for measures aimed at protecting the security and stability of GCC countries, while rejecting any actions that undermine regional stability.
Qatar had also strongly condemned the attack on the facilities housing its naval personnel in Bahrain, while Bahraini authorities reported another Iranian strike targeting two hotels and a residential building in the capital, Manama.
The incidents come amid escalating tensions in the region following the ongoing conflict involving Iran and the United States and Israel, which has entered its second week.
