Washington, May 9 (SANA) The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said Saturday that the maritime blockade on Iran remains in effect, with 58 commercial vessels redirected since April 13.
In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said four vessels had been disabled to prevent them from entering or leaving Iranian ports.
The measures follow an announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump on April 13 imposing a blockade on ships travelling to and from Iran.
Earlier on Saturday, U.S. officials said the blockade was effectively “strangling” Tehran economically and increasing pressure for negotiations.
