Occupied Jerusalem, April 8 (SANA) The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office said female detainees in Damon prison are being subjected to escalating systematic violations by Israeli prison authorities, including repeated raids and physical assaults.
According to a statement carried by Palestinian media, special units recently stormed sections housing female detainees, using stun grenades and gas before beating them.
The statement said prison authorities are using solitary confinement as a form of collective punishment, with detainees held in cramped and unsanitary cells and deprived of exposure to sunlight, which it described as a violation of international law.
It added that the measures extend beyond direct assaults, creating a constant climate of fear that affects detainees’ psychological well-being and intensifies their daily hardship.
The office also reported shortages of food and poor-quality meals, along with deliberate medical neglect and denial of basic necessities such as clothing and personal items.
Human rights organizations have documented dozens of deaths among Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons in recent years, citing mistreatment, medical neglect and harsh detention conditions, including cases involving elderly detainees and individuals suffering from malnutrition or untreated injuries.
The statement called for urgent action to address the situation and halt what it described as ongoing violations.
