Mansour: One million Palestinians in Gaza face an existential threat to their lives

New York, SANA- Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, warned that one million Palestinians face an existential threat to their lives, while “Israel” continues its plans to occupy Gaza turning a blind eye to ceasefire demands or obligations under international humanitarian law.

Mansour pointed out in letters he sent on Friday to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council and the President of the United Nations General Assembly, regarding the Israeli escalation in its aggression against the Palestinian people, that international action allowed “Israel” to continue its illegal obstruction of the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, including United Nations humanitarian institutions, which led to accelerating the spread of famine and disease.

Mansour affirmed that the International Classification of Food Insecurity officially announced on Friday the occurrence of famine in Gaza, in addition to the report of the organization “Med Global”, which concluded that acute malnutrition among children has increased by 914 percent since the Israeli siege last March, and that the famine limit has already been exceeded.
