Ankara, June 15 (SANA) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stressed the importance of continued activities of UN missions in Syria during a phone call Monday with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, stating that Türkiye will continue to provide necessary support in this regard, Turkish state news agency Anadolu reported.
According to a statement from Türkiye‘s presidential communications office, the two sides discussed regional and international developments, primarily the agreement between Washington and Tehran, along with the latest developments in Cyprus and the humanitarian situation in Gaza and Lebanon.
Erdoğan affirmed that Türkiye is striving to establish peace and stability in several regions, particularly Iran, Gaza and the Horn of Africa.
He stressed the need to seize the opportunity to reach a diplomatic solution between the United States and Iran, noting that the international community bears responsibility for preventing the sabotage of the peace process between the two parties.
Earlier Monday, Erdoğan welcomed the agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as an important development toward cementing peace and stability in the region, and called for avoiding any positions or actions that could undermine understandings or reignite tensions.
