Beirut, May 7 (SANA) Six people were killed and eight others wounded Thursday in Israeli airstrikes targeting towns and villages in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese state media and health authorities.
According to the National News Agency (NNA), an Israeli drone struck a transport truck near Safa station on the Mefdoun road in Nabatieh Governorate, killing one person. Heavy artillery shelling also targeted the towns of Haboush, Deir Zahrani and Kfour.
Israeli warplanes later struck a pickup truck on the Haboush road near the Nafaa building, killing two people. Another airstrike on the town of Ansariyeh in the Sidon district killed three people and wounded seven others.
In the Tyre area, Israeli artillery targeted the towns of Srifa, Froun, Ghandouriyeh, Qalawiya and Burj Qalawiya, as well as the Aita al-Shaab-Ramiya axis. Machine gun fire also targeted the outskirts of the two border towns. An Israeli airstrike on Jouaya wounded one person.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry said Wednesday that 10 people were killed and 33 injured in Israeli airstrikes on the town of Saksakiyah in the Sidon district, as well as in Nabatieh and the Western Bekaa region.
According to Lebanese health authorities, the death toll from Israeli attacks on Lebanon since March 2 has risen to 2,715, with 8,353 others wounded.
Israeli attacks on Lebanon have continued despite international efforts to preserve the ceasefire reached earlier last month year.
