Tartous, Sept. 11 (SANA) Health officials in Syria’s coastal province of Tartous met a World Health Organization delegation to assess the sector’s most pressing needs and identify areas for further support.
Tartous Health Director Alaa al-Barhoum held talks with the delegation, led by WHO Representative in Syria Caroline Clarinval, focusing on shortages of medical equipment, essential supplies and other resources, as well as ways to improve healthcare services and access.
The two sides also reviewed development plans and discussed priority areas where WHO could provide support based on needs and available resources.
Following the talks, the WHO delegation visited Tartous National Hospital, touring several departments and assessing services and equipment. It also met hospital administrators and medical staff to discuss operational challenges and identify priorities for improving the facility’s readiness and maintaining services.
The visit was part of ongoing cooperation between WHO and health authorities in Tartous to strengthen healthcare services in the province.
