Moscow, May 3 (SANA) Kirill Dmitriev, chief executive of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) warned on Sunday that the world is heading toward the largest energy crisis in its history amid record-high oil prices.
In a post on X, Dmitriev said the world is “unconsciously moving toward the biggest energy crisis in history,” adding that deterioration in the global energy market is linked to the war in the Middle East.
He said delivering Gulf oil to global markets has become nearly impossible due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Around 20% of global energy supplies pass through the Strait of Hormuz, meaning any disruption there has a direct impact on international markets. He added that the United States has imposed a blockade on Iranian coasts and ports, while Iran has refused to allow ships to pass through the strait unless Washington agrees to its conditions for ending the war.
